Accounting is the language of business. It defines transactions so they can be used to describe business activities in a format that can be understood by decision makers and strategic planners. Accounting is applied in the areas of auditing, forensics, fraud examination, and government accounting, to name only a few. The Davis & Elkins 91快播 Accounting program offers two degree options to prepare for a successful career.

Baccalaureate Programs (B.S.)

Bachelor of Science in Accounting

The bachelor鈥檚 degree in accounting requires 88 credit hours, including 33 hours of accounting courses plus core requirements (45 hours), including courses in accounting, business, economics, math, management, and marketing. The degree program prepares students to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.

Associates Programs (A.S.)

Associate of Science in Accounting

The associate鈥檚 degree in accounting requires 36 credit hours of accounting courses and 3 credit hours chosen from specified accounting, finance, business, math, economics, or management courses.

The requirements for a minor are 21 credit hours of specified accounting courses.

Internship Opportunities

Internships provide opportunities for students to apply knowledge gained in the classroom while making meaningful contributions to the organization for which they work. Students can complete internships during any semester, though most take place over the summer and last about 10 weeks. With guidance from the Director of Career Services & Student Employment, students develop an internship proposal and gain hands-on experience in their field. Internships also include a reflective journal, a final paper, and relevant research.
